For a really great school music teacher

She's really soft spoken, encouraging, always cheerful, fun to speak with, and just plain nice!  :)  The children really like her.  Oldest child goes to her for singing and music.  She is learning the recorder this year.  (and thank goodness doesn't  have any desire to practice at home!)   Middle child goes to her for singing and comes home reporting about how many "wow" cards they have received.  Apparently after so many they get a popcorn party!  Anyway, we just wanted to show our appreciation to her.  Tonight the Kindergarteners are performing some songs for the parents.  We were going to give her this...  But middle child is sick...  :(

We thought this guitar pick was cute...

But ended up doing it as a key chain/ring instead:

Benefits of being a Sous Chef

His older brother and sister had a "Boot Camp" school activity this day.  We were making a treat to bring for our picnic lunch with them after the event...
Rice Krispie treats.... it's been a long time since we've made this!
He soon discovered the benefits of his title as Mommy's sous chef!  He was NOT disappointed with the end results!

Happy Monday everyone!!!!  Have a great week!

Lavash Bread Pizza

Have you tried lavash bread before?  If you haven't, go visit Trader Joe's!  It's a thin flat bread and so easy to put together for an easy dinner.
I cut up hot dogs, olives, basil, green onions, chicken, pepperoni, sauteed mushrooms, sauteed red onions, and of course, shredded mozzarella cheese and pizza sauce from Trader Joe's too.  They went to town and put whatever they wanted on their own pizzas!  (really, you can do whatever you want!)

About 15-20 minutes in the oven and there's dinner in a short time.

Happy Birthday Mrs. Reynolds!!!!

Tuesday was the children's school principal's birthday.  The entire school was asked to bring a freshly cut flower in the morning for her to create a surprise birthday bouquet.  Guess what?  They didn't expect the turn out to be so large.  One big vase turned into MANY vases overflowing with freshly cut flowers from the students.  It was an amazing sight Tuesday morning... seeing children walking to school with their flowers for the principal!  I wish I had taken a picture but I often leave the house without my phone in the morning -- sometimes I leave without my brain! :0  Anyway, we brought flowers and the children made cards... just wished they actually brought it with them to school!  They were so excited about the flowers they forgot their cards.  I told them I would drop it off at the office later that morning... but I forgot!  (see what I mean about leaving without my brain?!)  Then I meant to bring them today... well, you can see where this is headed!
SO... to remind myself to bring the cards, I decided I would make time to create a pendant for Mrs. Reynolds!

BH is for the school's name, black and yellow/orange for the school's colors, and loved because she is loved by students, staff, and parents!  I think she's pretty amazing.  She has always been very personable, open, friendly, and direct with us.  I like that she tried to keep us in the loop about events - small and large.  She is always present at the school and has an open policy.  I have yet to use the open door policy... so that's a good sign, right?!  But I know that if needed, I can!  :)  And I think she's pretty amazing because even if she may not know me by name, she always greets me and says, "Thank you for helping and being at the school."  I think that's nice.  :)  You  know how I say sometimes it's the little things?  Well, that's the little thing I'm talking about.  A thank you here and there to show some appreciation.
Now... to remind myself to bring this to school... to hand to her in order to show her how much SHE is appreciated! (wish me luck!)

Happy Mother's Day!

Middle child made this book at school of me and for me:
Yes, I think I do look like this -- minus those long lashes that I truly wish I had! ;)
Yes, I do like a quiet house!  (who doesn't?!  And although it may "seem" I am picking my nose... I'm actually shushing them!)
He wrote, "My mom is awesome because she helps us in arguments."  So apparently, I settle agruments by yelling, "STOP!"  (Okay, I've been caught... I do yell that a lot!)
And of all the things he remember that I can make... he points out that I make headbands!  It's not as if I make them for him!  Hahaha!  He told me that it was the first thing he thought of when he was asked to write about something that I can make!
I wish you all a Happy Mother's Day!  May you have a quiet house..... shshshshshshshhhhh.  :)

For the love of M&Ms!

For the last day of Teacher Appreciation Week we ended with a sweet treat for the teachers -- a jar of M&Ms.
We topped each "Starbuck's" container with a glass marble with each teacher's initial:
And we hope the teachers will enjoy the treats!
Poem and idea found here.  I snagged the picture here too so you can see it larger.  It's such a nice poem!

One smart cookie...

Again, thanks to Pinterest, we made personalized plates for the teachers!  (But of course, I made one for myself too!)

Then we baked some yummy cookies:

And wrapped it up with a note:
FUN, easy, and so sweet.  :)

You are "mint" to be my teacher

On Tuesday they both brought fresh cut flowers from our backyard to their teachers.  Somehow I forgot to take pictures!

But today....

they both made crepe paper flowers for their teachers on Wednesday.  They did a good job.  Then we attached a bag of Andes Thin Mints.

Teacher Appreciation Week

And yes, of course, they deserve an entire week!  :)
Tomorrow, the children are giving their teachers this:

(I also made one for my son's guitar instructor because we all love her!)
I saw the saying on Pinterest and HAD to do it for their teachers.
We have a few other surprises up our sleeve for the rest of the week!
